May 2008 Cleared the land more, cleaned up the stream, and added walls/window framing to the cabin. February 2008 A little bit of progress on the cabin! My brother snowshoed in to get the roof up! Let's cross fingers it holds for spring and post-melt we can get a crew up there to finish it! I'm working hard to get the land itself paid off, but it's slow going, and trying to save for building materials come spring. June 2007 Back to San Francisco to try to get a job to make more $$ before anything else can happen on the farm! We got a lot done, though - Cabin #1 is started, with a floor and 3 walls complete, more to be done at the end of the summer. It's going to be 12' x 14' with a loft. We cleared more dead trees, put in paths, a bridge, and an outhouse! There's also a small swimming hole near the cabin. January 2007 Building this website (New Brighton Hill Road + The Dawn Land; the name given to Vermont at the time of the native peoples, the Abenaki = New Bright Dawn Farm.) and starting to plan the main cabin! Work on the land won't start again until April or May - until then it's working, saving, pricing out materials, and planning the site. October 2006 Clearing and woodchipping party and bonfire/picnic. 8 people come out to help chop and chip. We boil hot cider over the fire, and meet the neighbors! April 2006 The land is purchased!
